    Update June 29, 2021 11:35 a.m.

Westlock Town Council rescinded the  Face Covering Bylaw effective June 29, 2021.

Council is encouraging our community to follow provincial measures and to use their best judgment as restrictions continue to ease.

The province is expected to announce that Stage 3 of the Open for Summer Plan will take effect on July 1st. It is at this stage that face coverings will no longer be mandatory but will still be recommended.

The province has stated masking will still be required in continuing/acute care, public transit, taxis, and ride-sharing. It is critical that we support each other with compassion. Precautions like avoiding crowded indoor areas or wearing masks remain reasonable choices for some while others may move at a different pace.

Westlock came to be when originally surveyed in 1912. The land for the townsite was purchased from William Westgate and William Lockhart.  This gave way to the name Westlock.
The Village of Westlock was incorporated on March 13, 1916, and just over 30 years later Westlock became a town.  By the end of World War I, Westlock was an established service centre for the agricultural community with the first bank north of Edmonton, a blacksmith and a general store.
Westlock continues to be a thriving economic centre and offers exceptional opportunities for business and pleasure.  You will want to work here, live here and play here.  You’re way ahead in Westlock.
