Evacuations in Westlock

Understanding how evacuations work locally can help you respond quickly and safely during an emergency.

How Evacuation Works

An evacuation may be ordered when there is an immediate risk to people’s safety, such as fire, hazardous materials, flooding, or another serious emergency. If an evacuation is ordered, follow instructions from emergency responders right away. Leave the area using the route or directions provided. Depending on the situation, you may be directed to an assembly point first, and then to a reception centre if further support is needed.

ASSEMBLY POINTS & RECEPTION CENTRES

Assembly points are temporary gathering locations used during the initial stages of an evacuation.

Reception centres provide information, support services, and assistance with next steps.
