Aspendale Area Structure Plan Bylaw 2025-12
TAKE NOTICE THAT pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, as amended, the Council of the Town of Westlock proposes to adopt an Area Structure Plan for a portion of the Aspendale neighbourhood.
The purpose of this Area Structure Plan (ASP) is to provide details on proposed land uses, transportation networks, servicing, trails, and park spaces within the remainder of the Aspendale neighbourhood. Future applications for rezoning, subdivision, and development within the plan area will be required to align with the proposed land use concept, be logical in their staging, and integrate well with the existing community.
The Aspendale Area Structure Plan contemplates the development of new housing, commercial areas, parks, trails, and supporting infrastructure – providing a mix of housing choices, expanded recreation options, and space for new businesses. Adoption of the plan will ensure that the Town has adequate development-ready land for its future needs.
The proposed ASP and information about the project to date are available on our website at www.westlock.ca/aspendale-asp. Alternatively, the proposed ASP may be viewed by the public at the Town Office during the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A Public Hearing will be held to provide an opportunity for members of the public to speak to Council on the proposed bylaw commencing at 6:30 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2025, at Council Chambers (Heritage Building, 10003 100 Avenue, Westlock). Electronic attendance will also be available via Zoom – connection details are available on the Town’s website at www.westlock.ca/public-hearings.
Written submissions are highly encouraged and may be provided to Council during the Public Hearing, however, it is requested that a copy of the written submission be delivered to the Town Office or emailed to planning@westlock.ca, by 4:30 p.m. on September 8, to ensure that each member of Council has a copy of the written submission for the Public Hearing.
Speaking at the Public Hearing: Members of the public who wish to address Council are encouraged to register in advance. This helps ensure you will be heard at a specific time. People who do not register to speak in advance will be heard when time permits.
Presentation Time: Each presenter will be allotted 5 minutes maximum to speak. The deadline to register is 4:30 p.m., September 8. The names of persons providing comments will become part of the public record.
