NEW BUSINESS
Set Tax Sale Date and Set Reserve Bid Amount
- Each year, municipalities are required under the Municipal Government Act to set the date, reserve bid, and conditions for any properties that may be included in a tax recovery sale if property tax arrears remain unpaid.
- A tax recovery sale does not occur immediately after one year of unpaid property taxes. It is a multi-year, legislated process with several opportunities for the property owner to resolve arrears before a sale takes place.
- The property located at 10216–107 Street may be offered for sale if outstanding taxes are not paid before the sale date.
- Council approved March 13, 2026 as the date for the 2025 tax recovery sale, along with the reserve bid and conditions of sale.
Amendment to Council Committees and Affiliated Board and Committee Appointments
- Administration identified that alternate members are not permitted under the Terms of Reference for the Westlock Economic Region Committee. As a result, an update to the Council Committees and Affiliated Board and Committee Appointments listing was required to ensure compliance.
- Council approved an amendment to remove Councillor Curtis Snell as an alternate member of the Westlock Economic Region Committee.
BUSINESS ARISING FROM CLOSED SESSION
Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) Appointment
- Council resolved to appoint Dan Horinek to the Municipal Planning Commission (MPC).
Land
- Council resolved to set the listing price of the remaining available lands in East Business Park at $40,000/acre.
