2026 Housing Grants Now Open

The Town of Westlock’s New Construction and Secondary Suite Housing Grants are now accepting applications for 2026.

Funding is available on a first come, first served basis, with more grants available in 2026 than in previous years. Priority will be given to projects expected to reach:

  • Framing stage in 2026 (new construction), or

  • Final inspection completion in 2026 (secondary suites)

The New Home Incentive

Build in a place that values your future.

The Town of Westlock offers a $15,000 grant per unit (up to 4 units per property) for new residential construction. On top of that, you may qualify for a one-time property tax cancellation of up to $5,000 per unit in the year following occupancy.

To make it easier to get started, pre-approved construction plans are available for licensing with a one-time fee—saving time and costs on design and permitting.

The 2026 grant application window is now open. Funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis while funding lasts, with a priority given to projects which will reach framing completion in 2026.

The Rental Suite Incentive

Create flexible, affordable housing in your own backyard.

Homeowners can access a $10,000 grant for the addition of a legal basement, garage, or garden suite. One suite is eligible per property, and licensed pre-approved plans are available for garage and garden suite designs.  You can also utilize the incentive to make an existing non-permitted suite legal and safe to occupy.

The 2026 grant application window is now open. Funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis while funding lasts, with a priority given to projects which will be completed, with a final inspection in 2026.

Southview Subdivision: Lots Now Available

A new chapter in a growing community.
