Renew Your 2026 Business License Online

The Town of Westlock has moved to a new permitting and licensing system for the 2026 licence year. This system provides improved access to your licensing information and now includes the option to renew and pay for your business licence online.

Business licence renewal notices will be issued during the first week of January 2026. These notices will include instructions for completing your renewal online or in person.

What’s New for 2026

  • Online renewals and online payment options are now available through the Town’s e-permitting portal.
  • Business licence certificates have a new format. A new certificate will be issued each time you renew; annual stickers will no longer be provided.
  • Licence numbers are changing. Your renewal notice will include your updated number. Don’t worry—Town staff can still look up your record using your previous licence number.

Renewal Timeline

  • Renewal notices issued: First week of January 2026
  • Renewal deadline: February 28, 2026
    • To maintain your licence status, your renewal request must be submitted by this date. Renewals received after February 28 may result in a lapse in licensing status.

Renewing Online

You may now renew your business licence through the Town’s e-permitting portal.

To access the portal, you will need to create an account using the email address the Town currently has on file for your business. Your renewal notice will show the email we have on file. If this email is incorrect, please contact Planning & Development so it can be updated before you register your account.

Online portal features:

  • Submit your renewal request
  • Review and update your business information
  • Pay securely online

Other Ways to Renew

Online renewal is optional. You may still renew your business licence using any of our existing methods:

  • Renew in person at the Town Office
  • Pay using standard payment methods (cash, cheque, e-transfer, debit)
  • Contact our office for manual assistance with the renewal process

The Town remains committed to supporting businesses that prefer non-online renewal options.

If Your Business Is Closed or Not Operating in 2026

If your business has closed or will not be operating in Westlock in 2026, please notify the Town so we can close your licence file and stop renewal reminders.
