Westlock is a community that celebrates together! From large-scale holiday events to local markets and activities, there’s always something happening. Below you’ll find a selection of annual events hosted by the Town of Westlock and our dedicated community partners.

These events are proudly hosted or co-hosted by the Town of Westlock and are open to all members of the community.

Try-It Day

Date: August 28, 2025 from 4 – 8 p.m.
Location: Westlock Rotary Spirit Centre, 9603 100 Street

Join us for Try-It Day, a fun and interactive event where Westlock’s local organizations come together to showcase what they have to offer! Everyone Welcome. Free to attend. No registration needed—just show up and Try-It!

Interested in being a vendor? We’re inviting local clubs, teams, support groups, and outreach organizations to host interactive booths where attendees can try-it in a fun, low-pressure environment. Booth space is FREE but registration is required by August 14. Complete the Registration Form to join in.

Hazardous Waste Cleanup

Date: September 3- 4, 2025
Location: Westlock

Mark your calendar! On September 3 and 4 from 1–8 p.m., Westlock residents can safely drop off household hazardous waste at the Westlock Operations Centre (11012-97 Ave). It's your chance to get rid of old paints, cleaners, and other materials that don’t belong in the trash. Please note this event is for Town of Westlock resident's household waste-commercial waste will not be accepted.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Gathering

Date: Annually in late September
Location: École Westlock Elementary School, Altador Field, 10515-106 Street, Westlock, AB

Each year, the Town of Westlock hosts a community gathering in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This free event features a traditional meal, dance performance, and opportunities for shared learning and reflection.

We invite all residents to join us for an evening of song, culture, and community connection as we honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

No registration is required. All are welcome.

Annual Firefighters Ball

The Annual Firefighters Ball is a cherished evening of celebration and recognition, honouring the dedication and service of Westlock’s volunteer firefighters. Hosted by the Westlock Fire Department, this formal event brings together firefighters, families, community members, and local leaders for a night of appreciation and connection.

Whether you're attending to show your support or to enjoy a memorable night out, the Firefighters Ball is a heartfelt celebration of the people who help keep Westlock safe.

Light Up Westlock & Christmas Parade

Location: Downtown Westlock

Kick off the holiday season in Westlock with our annual Light Up event and Christmas Parade! This festive evening features the official light up of downtown, a cheerful parade through downtown, and plenty of seasonal magic for all ages.

Local businesses and organizations join the parade to showcase their holiday spirit and bring the streets of Westlock to life with lights and music.

Bundle up, bring the whole family, and join us as we light up the heart of our community.

Firefighter in the Sky

Blue Suede Music Festival

Location: Agricultural Society Grounds 9704-96 Avenue

Each July, the Town of Westlock welcomes the Blue Suede Music Festival to our community. This 3-day festival celebrates Elvis Presley, King of Rock and Roll with tribute artists and performers from all over Canada and the US.
