Associated Ambulance & Services (Whitecourt) Ltd. provides Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the Town of Westlock and surrounding areas through a contract with Alberta Health Services.

Local Service Coverage

Westlock is served by:

• Two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances staffed 24/7
• A third mechanical backup unit stationed in Westlock for additional capacity

About Associated Ambulance

Associated Ambulance has delivered regional ambulance services to rural Albertans for over 30 years, beginning in Mayerthorpe. The organization now serves 20 communities across rural Alberta, including:

• Jasper to Lac La Biche
• South to Rocky Mountain House
• Neighbouring communities: Barrhead, Thorhild, and Athabasca

These regional connections provide additional support for residents of Westlock and the local EMS teams.

Billing Information & Insurance

Important to know:

• Emergency ambulance services are not covered by Alberta Health Care.
• Inter-facility transfers between hospitals are covered.

They can direct bill:

• Alberta Blue Cross
• Alberta Works / Social Services
• Health Canada

If you are covered under one of these plans at the time of service, please inform the paramedics or call the Mayerthorpe office.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

• Most auto insurance providers require you to pay the invoice first, then submit a claim for reimbursement.
• Let them know if you’ve submitted a claim to your insurer, as this can affect payment timelines.
