Information for Voters

Every four years, municipal voters elect a Mayor, Councillors, and School Board Trustees. Your vote shapes your community.

Who Can Vote

You are eligible to vote if you are:

• At least 18 years of age
• A Canadian citizen
• A resident of the Town of Westlock on Election Day (October 20, 2025)

All voters may be required to complete a Statement of Elector Eligibility.

Non-Registered Voters

Must:

• Complete a Statement of Elector Eligibility, and
• Show 1 piece of government-issued photo ID with name and current address, or
• If your photo ID does not show your current address, show 1 piece of ID with name and current address (e.g. utility bill, bank statement, lease, mortgage statement, vehicle registration)

Vouching

• Vouching can only confirm address, not identity.
• You must show valid ID proving your identity.
• A registered voter listed on the Permanent Electors Register may vouch for your address.
• They can vouch for multiple voters only if everyone lives at the same address.
• A scrutineer cannot vouch for any voter.

Types of Valid Identification

Valid identification includes (examples only):

• Government-issued photo ID: Alberta Driver’s Licence, Passport, Certificate of Indian Status
• Government-issued non-photo ID: Alberta Health Care Card, Birth Certificate, Property Tax Notice
• Financial documents: Bank statement, Mortgage statement, Personal cheque
• Other accepted ID: Lease agreement, Utility bill, Student card
