Aquatic Centre

The Westlock Aquatic Centre includes a 6-lane swimming pool with climbing wall and zero depth splash park area. The weight training room has free weights, cable weight machines, cardio equipment, and aerobics area. Racquetball, squash and wallyball courts are available. Finish your workout with a relaxing moment in the hot tub or steam room.

Spring 2013 Programs

Spirit of Westlock Triathlon – Adult Sprint (ages 16+)  June 8th, 2013

Our community Triathlon has been around for years!  Challenge yourself or your friends and sign up for our SPRINT race involving swimming, biking and running. It’s a great way to get fit and meet friends along the way.

Set for Saturday June 8th, 2013, this marks the second year our Triathlon will be sanctioned by the Alberta Triathlon Association. We are happy to be promoting this event and proud to encourage fitness and recreation within our community.

So what are you waiting for… involve the whole family, from young to old, and sign up today!  Here’s what you need to know:

Registration starts Monday, March 4, 2013

Swim 750m (30 lengths) / Bike 21km ( highway ) / Run 5km (within town)

Individual Entry Fee: $60
Team Entry Fee: $90

This race can be done individually or as a group of three. Categories are age and gender based (10 year increments ex. 20-29, 30-39, etc).  Prizes will be awarded to the first three finishers in each category.  Of course we can’t forget prizes for best dressed, most entries by a business, most fun team, etc.

Kids Triathlon – Sunday, June 9th, 2013   (Registration deadline is June 3rd)

A triathlon is an event designed to challenge a person physically.  This event was created for kids aged 5 to 12 year olds and the cost is only $10 per child.

There are 3 parts: swim, bike and run.  The athletes are encouraged to participate and reach their best individual time. All of this takes place at the Westlock Aquatic Centre

Pre-Race meeting at 9:30 am

Race Start at 10:30 am

The Swim:  Lengths are done in the pool, with 2-3 athletes per lane.  Swimmers 5-6 years old can use a lifejacket.

The Bike: The bike portion is done on pavement near the pool.  Athletes are expected to wear helmets and bring their own bike.

The Run: The running portion is done on grass and dirt near the pool.  Athletes are expected to wear shoes.

Athletes are expected to transition from one phase to the other quickly as the clock will continue to run.

Please note that 1 (one) parent is required to volunteer at one of the stations or transition areas.
